About Us
We are Kate and Mihai, a husband and wife team who make fossil preparation tools from scratch, right here in the UK. We lived and worked on our postgraduate studies in palaeontology and geology, alongside working as freelance preparators in Transylvania for a few years - preparing some of the most incredible vertebrate material in Europe (most of it is still under embargo but watch this space!). We are now based in the lovely Dorset countryside, a stone’s throw away from the Jurassic Coast.
We had an enormous backlog of unprepped dinosaur skeletons, so we began creating our own tools based on our designs and requirements - Mihai putting that engineering degree to good use!
Our aim was and very much still is to produce top quality, reliable and purpose-built pneumatic fossil preparation tools for hobbyists, amateurs and professionals alike.
Our tools are now spread far and wide around the globe in top institutions, museums and a countless number of garden sheds! In the last few years, we have grown beyond what we could possibly have imagined through word-of-mouth recommendation; with many laboratories and fossil preparators upgrading their kit to 'ZOIC PalaeoTech kit'.

ZOIC PalaeoTech, where did the name come from? Think of MesoZOIC, PalaeoZOIC, CenoZOIC - this word means life. We provide the tools and technology to aid the discovery and preparation of all ancient life forms and palaeontological specimens.
